We have great news! We’ve released a second video on Youtube about how to write your Test Cases in Requirements and Test Management for Jira (RTM). Whilst watching the tutorial you’ll learn how to create a fully functional Test Cases list with Test Steps and Preconditions using just our tool.

Below you can find a transcript of the steps described in our video tutorial:

  1. 1. First, turn on your Requirements and Test Management for Jira app.
  2. 2. On the left side of the screen, there is a panel with all RTM’s functionalities.
  3. 3. Select the Test Cases tab to see your tests categorized in folders and subfolders.
  4. 4. To add a new Test Case, click on a “plus” sign above the categories and then, “Create Test Case” button above the table.
  5. 5. Write a short Summary of your new Test Case and Description where you define what features it concerns. In order to keep the objects organized, assign the Test Case to the right folder in your tree-structure.
  6. 6. Fill the Assignee, Components, Priority, RTM Environment, so the browser or system where a specific Test Case is going to be tested, Time estimate, and Labels fields.
  7. 7. If you need to, add some Attachments below.
  8. 8. Go back to the top of the screen and click on the Steps tab.
  9. 9. Describe Preconditions in the dedicated field and go to the steps instructions section.
  10. 10. Define Actions, Input, and Expected Results manually or import Test Cases from a .CSV file, by clicking on the button on the right corner of the screen. This is a crucial point of each Test Case description, as it strictly defines activities that testers should perform to complete verifying functionalities of the final product.
  11. 11. When your Test Steps list is ready, click on the Requirements tab on the top and assign the Test Case to the related Requirement.
  12. 12. Click Add and then Create on the next screen. Your new Test Case is created! You can add it to your Test Plan and reuse multiple times if needed.
